There are many seeming contradictions in the Word. To gain your life you must lose it, to be a good leader you serve. The way to walk in power is to submit.
In Romans 14:11 Paul quotes Isaiah saying at the end of the age every knee will bow down to the Lord Jesus. What a sight that will be.
But over in Ephesians 3:14 Paul makes an interesting pronouncement. He is talking about the amazing mystery of Jesus Christ our Savior and says “For this reason I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ…”
What a contrast. Someday every knee will have to bow, but Paul is gladly bowing both knees now!
The desire of Paul’s heart was to walk in humble submission to the Lord. His epistle’s are filled with this heartfelt conviction; yet at the same time they are filled with power and wisdom and anointed revelations. He had to spend quality time in prayer-regularly-to receive all this from the Lord.
Like you, we are sure, there are times we teach couples scriptural truths in a class that apply to their responsibility to “bow” to the Lord’s Word to see victory or healing and they struggle to get there. Is each spouse bowing their knees in humble prayer?
All of us also need to continue praying, asking the Lord to reveal any of those little places in our hearts where are knees are not bowing.
Let’s all agree in prayer for every precious couple in 2=1 classes and for ourselves to see from Paul’s vantage point.
Paul’s complete point in Ephesians is:
“My response is to get down on my knees before the Father, this magnificent Father who parcels out all heaven and earth. I ask Him to strengthen you by His Spirit-not a brute strength but a glorious inner strength-that Christ will live in you as you open the door and invite Him in. And I ask Him that with both feet planted firmly on love, you’ll be able to take in with all followers of Jesus the extravagant dimensions of Christ’s love. Reach out and experience the breath! Test its length! Plumb the depths! Rise to the heights! Live full lives, full in the fullness of God.” Ephesians 3:14-19 Message Bible
WOW! There is no better place to be. To in our hearts bow our knees to the Lord and see His great power manifest to answer prayers, meet needs and bless us with His abundant life.
“Wonderful, Beautiful, Glorious, Matchless in every way
Here in Your presence we are undone, Here in Your presence
Heaven and earth become one. Here in Your presence
all Things are new, Here in Your presence
Everything bows before You!”
